I first watched Evangelion when i was at my lowest, this scene, the entire ending made me so fucking depressed i went through a whole realization and self-care arc

although I would've rather had the actual planned out ending, this ending was very artistic. The original storyboarded ending was cut due to a budget cut and the studio being on crunch time, which meant they had to put something together. Episodes 25 and 26 are the result of these constraints, where they resorted to what's essentially a clip montage paired with lots of dialogue. The original ending was then later recycled to create EoE, however due to episodes 25 and 26 already existing, they had to loosely fit it into the lore. This basically f'ed up the entire story then onwards, which then led to the rebuild series, which that too had many compromises similar to those of the original anime. All in all, the anime was very well thought out, however due to IRL issues, they had to loosely glue together a cohesive ending, which as you all know with story heavy shows, doesn't work out very well. (I don't think anyone's gonna read this but oh well, also does the bus come through here?)
